Wind River Historical Center:

Located in Dubois, Wyoming, The Wind River Historical Center is a regional museum featuring permanent displays of:

  • Material culture and high altitude adaptation of the Mountain Shoshone or Sheep Eater Indians,
  • Settlement and history of the Upper Wind River Valley,
  • The early “tie-hack” industry in which Scandinavian immigrants produced hand-hewn railroad ties for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad,
  • Regional geology and natural history.
  • In addition, new exhibits and features are added on a regular basis.

    A new list of summer activities and events at Wind River Historical Center, including
    Fishing, a fly fishing extravaganza.
